This week we caught up with HLA Services to find out how they’re going further with Chamber membership.

Where are you based?

South Tyneside with satellite offices in Teesside, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

How many people do you employ?

Over 100 people

Give us a brief overview of your business.

HLA Services works across numerous sectors, including construction, manufacturing, retail, health, education and hospitality and is one of the North East’s leading mechanical, air conditioning, climate change and temperature control specialists.

What has been your top tip for keeping business going during Covid-19?

One of the most important aspects of what we do is being available for customers when they need our services. We maintained the most comprehensive level of service permitted during the lockdown periods with management and engineering staff all pulling together to help.

Tell us about a recent business success.

We have grown exponentially despite the pandemic. 2021 has seen a plethora of new contracts including NHS work worth more than £1 million.

This was followed by our expansion into the North West, having secured further contracts in excess of £1 million in that region.

In addition, the recent hire of a business development manager, targeting Teesside and North Yorkshire, signals our ambition to replicate the success we have had on Tyneside across the wider North.

Why are you a Chamber Member?

Being a member enables us to keep a finger on the pulse of North East business activity and provides us with access to people and services we would not otherwise be able to reach. It’s important, in the current situation, to have a good relationship with other local businesses, to understand their challenges and how they have operated through the pandemic.
