As part of our campaign to build a Working North East, we would like to see all schools and colleges in the North East provide better careers advice, building on the success of the Gatsby Benchmarks pilot.
The benchmarks and the Government’s new careers strategy provide a framework for schools and colleges to improve their careers guidance offer. The role that businesses can play is also clearly defined, and in the North East we have many great examples of schools and businesses working together.
The Chamber recognises the importance of facilitating links between education and the wider business community. Our 'Linking Business with Education' events aim to bring leaders from both sectors together to network and share knowledge of the most effective interventions and new developments. Our overall objective is to help members to form sustainable partnerships which will ultimately deliver higher quality careers guidance for students and a better prepared future workforce for employers.
To provide businesses and schools with an update on the latest developments in education and skills policy, including local opportunities for collaboration. To facilitate connections between businesses and education.
