CHUF (Children's Heart Unit Fund) appeals to North East businesses for Christmas raffle prizes.
It may only be September, but the Children's Heart Unit Fund is beginning to plan the 2020 CHUF Christmas Raffle and they're appealing to North East businesses that are in a position to help, to consider donating prizes.
The charity taken a hit this year due to the current pandemic, with major fundraising events cancelled. However, the team have been touched by how many individuals and businesses have stepped in to help by participating in re-imagined events or presenting donations to help them meet the increased needs of vulnerable Heart Heroes and their families. In addition to their usual funding of things like staff posts such as the UK's only Fontane Nurse, a Complex Discharge Nurse, psychology services, innovative medical equipment and fun child activities, CHUF has had to feed families stuck on the ward without access to communal kitchens or outside help. They've had to adapt the Clown Doctor programme into a virtual platform, and support the NHS team with a discretionary emergency float.
CHUF's Christmas Raffle raised £8,000 last year, which all helps towards providing equipment and services for babies and children who are born with and develop heart conditions. This year CHUF fears it may be harder to raise money due to the fact they cannot accept a lot of the usual physical prizes, which would have to be collected from the CHUF office which is currently closed to the public.
To avoid uneccesary risk CHUF are appealing for vouchers for goods, services and experiences that winners can enjoy.
Alicia, CHUF's Corporate and Events Fundraising Manager said:
"We're hoping that North East businesses will help us to make this year's raffle a success by donating gifts in kind. It is an opportunity to demonstrate your company's Corporate Social Responsibility whilst also gaining visability with new audiences and to be included in PR; so a prize donation can be a win/win.
A huge thank you goes out to our supporters JT Dove, who've pledged a £1000 voucher that can be used for home improvement projects, to Banyan who've given a £50 gift card for a meal in any of their restaurants and Intu who've given £150 worth of vouchers. I hope that other companies will follow suit and help us make the best ever prize list, which will in turn encourage people to enter the raffle this year."
