A new café in Washington has got off to a flying start thanks to its home-baked goods and welcoming family-friendly environment.
Owned by former Hospitality Manager Kayleigh Hankinson and her husband Gareth who owns an exhibition and graphics company, Olivia’s Coffee House in Washington Village Green is already proving a success amongst its local clientele.
Olivia’s Coffee House offers a range of sit-in and take-away breakfasts, lunches, snacks and hot beverages and has appointed local suppliers including Newcastle-based tea and coffee company Ringtons to cater to its guests.
Ringtons is supplying the 30 seat venue with quality Fairtrade Arabica coffee beans, a selection of loose leaf teas and hot chocolate. In addition, the Olivia’s team of four received full on-site barista training on its new Ringtons’ supplied Cimbali Espresso Machine ahead of its grand opening.
Speaking of the partnership Paul Hodgson from Ringtons Beverages said: “Olivia’s is a fantastic venue for Washington – not only is the ideal spot for families and friends but it’s also great for those working at the surrounding businesses. The team from Olivia’s had a great time at Ringtons’ head office trying out all of the teas and coffees before selecting the blends and roasts they thought would work best for them, and which suited their customer base. We are confident the business is only going to continue to thrive and we look forward to building our relationship with the team further.”
Kayleigh Hankinson owner and manager of Olivia’s Coffee House said: I’ve always worked in the hospitality industry in hotels and restaurants, but always dreamt of opening my own café which was stylish and boutique as well as family-friendly. Reaction to Olivia’s has been incredible and we are attracting a lot of groups of friends, mothers and daughters, as well as baby showers – it’s always lovely to be the chosen venue to mark of such occasions, and as most guests are from my own community it makes it extra special for us. We’ve become a real hub for families too – our existing arts and crafts for older children have proven to be very popular and in the coming months we’re looking to add a programme of parent and baby classes such as singing and rhyming and baby massage.

Ringtons Beverages food services division has been operating for over 30 years. Ringtons was established in 1907 and delivered tea to households in Newcastle via horse and cart – 108 years later the horses have been swapped for vans, but the company remains a family business and still offers a traditional doorstep delivery service to over 250,000 customers in the UK.
