Northumberland's hills were alive with the Sound of Music this week, as stars from the show headed to Matfen Hall Hotel for a well-earned break.
Danielle Hope and Steven Houghton, have been wowing audiences at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, with their portrayals of Maria and Captain von Trapp, in the musical.
But the pair took a break from performing to enjoy a few of their Favourite Things, at the hotel, voted Large Hotel of the Year 2015.
Along with lunch in the hotel’s Conservatory, the stars enjoyed treatments and full use of the facilities in the recently refurbished Aqua Vitae spa, before saying So Long, Farewell and travelling the Sixteen, Going on Seventeen miles back to Newcastle.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music, which first captivated audiences in 1965.
