Two Partners appointed at Samuel Phillips Law Firm

Newcastle-based law firm Samuel Phillips Law, now in its 100th anniversary year, has appointed two partners as part of plans to strengthen its senior team.

Stephen Robinson, Head of Samuel Phillips Law’s Wills, Probate & Trusts Department and Jane Fiddes, Head of Residential Property at the firm, have both been promoted to partners.

Jane Fiddes originally joined Samuel Phillips Law as a trainee, and qualified with the firm in 2002. She first specialised in family law, moving on to other regional law firms. She made the move to residential property six years ago, and re-joined Samuel Phillips Law as an Associate in October 2016.

Jane had a team of one full time lawyer and one part time administrator when she moved back to Samuel Phillips Law, which she has developed to a team of seven in just over two years.

She said: “I’m very happy I made the decision to return to Samuel Phillips Law and to be acknowledged for the hard work which lies behind my department’s rapid growth. The team’s success is a result of providing great customer care and an efficient and modern service.

“Clients are always able to get in touch using our new conveyancing hotline and virtual firm updates via emails and texts. The feedback has been excellent and clients have been recommending our services.”

Stephen Robinson joined Samuel Phillips Law as an assistant solicitor in family law, and moved to the Wills, Probate and Trusts Department in 2015. He was promoted to associate in 2016 and is now partner and head of his five-strong department.

He said: “There’s a fantastic culture at Samuel Phillips Law which supports and encourages staff, and makes us all go the extra mile for clients. We’re forging a strong reputation in our department and my aim is to be best in class across the region for outstanding work in Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Trusts.

“It’s rewarding to be recognised by the firm as a partner, and I look forward to helping the firm grow further in the future.”

Robert Gibson, senior partner at Samuel Phillips Law, said: “This is a landmark year for Samuel Phillips. It marks our 100th anniversary, launch of our re-brand, the appointment of talented new partners, new staff and our move to new offices in Grey Street.

“Jane and Stephen thoroughly deserve their appointments, having both made important contributions to Samuel Phillips Law’s growth and success, and to their clients for whom they carry out work. It’s the personal approach and exceptional client commitment from our teams that set Samuel Phillips apart, and ensure we can plan with confidence for the future.”

Jenny Goldstein, senior partner at the firm, said: “I had the pleasure of working closely with Jane as a trainee, and Stephen who worked alongside me managing the Family Law and Wills, Probate and Trust department. Their success reflects their dedication and hard work, as well as demonstrating that career progression is available to talented individuals at our firm.

“As the business environment faces so much uncertainty, it is a measure of the success of Samuel Phillips Law that we are continuing to grow.
