TyneMet’s specialist construction campus, TMC gains British Gypsum’s Thistle Partnership Award

 

Tyne Metropolitans purpose built campus for specialist trades TMC is delighted to announce it has received the Thistle partnership award from global construction manufacturing giant, British Gypsum.

The British Gypsum Technical Academy ‘Thistle Training Partnership programme’ will provide support for the plastering and dry lining department at TMC. This is a double success for the college who recently received backing from British Gypsum to become one of only four FE colleges in its college partner initiative in the UK to deliver the sought after skills, training and qualifications in plastering and dry lining systems. With significant investment from British Gypsum in the provision of their expertise, materials and equipment for the College to facilitate the new offer that will provide apprenticeships and a specialist upskilling programme.

The Thistle Partnership award means that the plastering and interior dry lining provision at TMC will be supported by British Gypsum. TMC learners will receive a whole host of benefits in accordance to the partnership which includes a large donation of materials, thistle work wear and goodies, visits from British Gypsum experts and access to an exclusive partnership ‘Learning hub’ which provides an online platform for the latest industry related information in the plastering trade.

British Gypsum technical academy manager Dave Hall said:

Head of Construction at TMC, Martin Waller, said: “As a college, we understand that we need to deliver purposeful, quality qualifications that provide employers and employees with industry relevant skills. To be recognised as a trusted, expert dry lining training provider is a huge achievement – through the partnership we look forward to working closely with British Gypsum to provide innovative, industry relevant apprenticeships.”

TMC, specialises in qualifications and training for building services and the construction industry, offering hands-on training that will equip young people and adults with the skills that the sector need to build a great career in one of the many areas of building services, including: bricklaying, electrical installations, joinery, painting and decorating, plastering and plumbing.
