The Banks Group develops land for a variety of uses including surface mining, residential and commercial property and onshore wind farms. The Group's development team sees projects through from inception to completion including gaining all the necessary planning permissions. Founded in County Durham in 1976 and now headquartered in Meadowfield, The Banks Group is a family-owned property and energy business which is active across northern England and Scotland.Banks employs around 420 people, with the workforce of more than 200 people based at its Shotton and Brenkley Lane surface mines in South East Northumberland making it one of the county's largest private sector employers. A further one hundred employees are located at Banks' Durham head office. Banks operates under a long-standing 'Development with Care' ethos, which ensures it works in a responsible manner with consideration for the environment, local communities, and its customers, employees and suppliers.
