Bloom looks for expansion in USA

An innovative procurement business which has already doubled its workforce to 60 people in the last year is pursuing even more growth with a trade mission to Boston, US from 4 – 7 December.

Bloom, based in Rotterdam House on Newcastle’s Quayside, will be part of a 25-strong North East business delegation travelling to Boston for the fifth time.

A member of North East England Chamber of Commerce, the company is using the trade mission to explore opportunities to expand its services into America.

Leading the trip is Chamber chief executive, James Ramsbotham. He said: “These trips, organised in conjunction with the Department for International Trade reap tremendous rewards for our businesses. They are given opportunities to increase their international trade and make invaluable connections which would be difficult to create from the UK alone. When we arranged the first mission five years ago we knew there would be great synergy between our region and the Boston business network and it has paid off handsomely.”

Adam Jacobs, Executive chairman and Co-Founder of Bloom said: “During the mission I would like to meet with potential pilot customers in the US and explore opportunities to expand our ecommerce capability.”

Bloom specialises in sourcing professional services providers for Public Sector projects including Durham County Council and Newcastle City Council offering business opportunities across 19 categories for suppliers of all sizes. North East based businesses have delivered over 150 projects worth over £15m since 2016 with 70% of all projects being awarded to SMEs.

Bloom’s business model brings together a community of customers and suppliers using an end to end technology platform that helps the Public Sector buy professional services better. Bloom works across the UK ensuring organisations achieve value for money and reduce procurement timescales whilst also supporting local businesses with access to an extensive and growing supply chain.

Since being established in 2012, Bloom has procured specialist professional services for over 200 organisations, with over 5000 suppliers in their community and continues to grow rapidly.
