Chamber helps members get Expo exposure

This is the third event North East England Chamber of Commerce, the region’s largest member organisation, has joined forces with Fresh Start Events to support its huge regional expo.

Following the success of last year’s event, there is a whole Chamber Showcase floor again as well as other member businesses exhibiting around the event.

Ashley Carney, events executive for the Chamber said: “We always receive great feedback from these events and our members find them a really great platform to promote their businesses. This year we have a seminar at 12.30-1.15 with a host of tips and information to help companies grow. We are looking forward to being able to support our members to get the very best benefit from this expo that they can.”

From SME’s to multi-nationals, the Chamber bring business people together across a range of member events, to ensure they get access to the best possible support. Members share conversations, experience and connections. They also come together to influence and expand the world they do business in.

The Chamber holds over 100 Chamber events each year and last year connected around 5,000 business people. While its knowledge events and seminars give free access to upskill a business and its employees.

Among the businesses exhibiting at the expo are a range of Chamber members including Emirates, NBSL, Ramside Hall and United Carlton, the latter are joining the Chamber Showcase for the third event.

Here are some examples of which ones will be there

MI Supplies

Since joining the Chamber the Stockton company has achieved massive growth in its order book, supported by a mix of practical advice and mentoring from other Chamber members and a Teesside University course.

This business supplies industrial supplies and protective clothing to clients all over the world. It also undertakes safety audits for businesses to give them advice on how to prevent injuries and accidents.

Alex Ingham, who owns MI Supplies said: “The benefit of what I learnt has resulted in a seismic change in my business. I had site visits at the region’s most successful businesses like the former Chamber President Mike Matthews’ company, Nifco and the fast-growing Visualsoft. As well as learning by example I also developed my own leadership skills which have reaped great rewards as well.”

Award winners for Digital Innovation in business, SenServe, is going from strength to strength as it launches a new maintenance product. Designed for letting agents, property & facility managers, fire & safety companies and SMEs, MaintainPad targets those requiring regular maintenance and checks.

MaintainPad, which is available to a range of sectors, allows users to log any issue from an App or property manager’s website which then provides them real-time updates on the progress being made towards the resolution of the issue. This massively improves the customer experience, the communication is automated and the property managers can focus on growing their business rather than updating tenants, landlords, contractors and even dealing with suppliers. MaintainPad offers end-to-end maintenance platform for everyone involved.

Department for International Trade

Based within the North East England Chamber of Commerce the Department for International Trade (DIT) is the Government-provided free business support service to help all businesses in North East England to achieve their international trade potential.

Karen Berry from DIT said: “People may have never considered international trade or be an accidental exporter who would like to have an export strategy. Whatever their scenario we are here to help. Trading in goods or services, to consumers or business to business, we have a programme to help you explore your export potential.

“I encourage businesses to speak to the team on the stand today at the Expo and find the support they need. We provide Introduction to Export workshops, a range of international e-commerce workshops, free desk based market research to help find your market and also the opportunity to have a dedicated International Trade Adviser (ITA) who can work with them on an Export Growth Action Plan. An ITA can help access ERDF grant funding to support global ambitions (subject to eligibility) and sign post them to the Northern Powerhouse Trade Missions which help North East business access the world.
