Chamber UtilitiesNECC preferred supplier Chamber Utilities has helped to save an NECC member more than £50,000 over two years thanks to its expertise in the energy markets.

When Gateshead-based NECC member Crafted & Co received their 2012 electricity contract renewal price from their incumbent supplier, they decided to seek alternative purchasing options through the Chamber Utilities energy service offered to NECC members. A meeting was arranged to discuss their existing supply contracts, and begin investigating options for their electricity renewal.

Chamber Utilities collated and analysed Crafted & Co's previous electricity bills after which they discussed purchasing options with Crafted & Co.

After going out to tender to major commercial energy suppliers, Crafted & Co received an easy-to-understand price comparison from Chamber Utilities, which clearly benchmarked all participating supplier bids to the same criteria. Crafted & Co could therefore see exactly how these prices specifically related to their business in real cost terms.

Thanks to this service Crafted & Co were able to select the most suitable supplier opting for a two year deal, since it would offer longer term savings. And, based on their previous consumption, Crafted & Co have now saved £58,000 over the duration of the two year contract.

Ken Smith, Managing Director of Crafted & Co, said:

"We were very impressed with the savings made by the Chamber Utilities energy service. Working with a broker allowed us to easily find the best deal and switch suppliers without hassle."

Crafted & Co has also since signed up to regularly receive Bespoke Market Tracker reports, which allow them to monitor wholesale market prices and identify the best time to secure their next contract. This ensures that Crafted & Co can budget for their 2014 renewal well in advance.

"By receiving the Bespoke Market Tracker report, we are fully aware of the direction electricity prices are going, and can budget for 2014 accordingly," added Mr Smith.
