Find out what the Budget 2017 means for Tees Valley.
Rachel Anderson, head of policy and representation, North East England Chamber of Commerce said:
“We welcome the Chancellor’s announcements today which appear to signal significant investment in the Tees Valley. Funding for the redevelopment of the former SSI site represents a real step forward in the remediation of the site and will smooth the way for new private sector investment. £123m is exactly what we had hoped for and represents a positive example of what devolution can achieve. This builds on the work of the SSI Task Force of which the Chamber was a part. Similarly, we welcome the announcement of a further £59m for transport projects which should deliver the Darlington Northern relief road and start scoping work on a new Tees Crossing.
“Away from the headlines we note significant national investment in the digital sector which the Tees Valley should be well placed to take advantage of and we will work with the TVCA and our members to ensure as much as possible is invested in the area.”
