NECC Comments on GCSE ResultsCommenting on GCSE results, North East Chamber of Commerce Policy Advisor, Helen Hayes, said:

"The GCSE results mirror the dip in top grade A-level results last week, which seems to reflect the central actions to curb grade inflation. This will help restore business confidence in the qualifications.

"GCSE students must now consider their options and it's important that both academic and vocational pathways are considered. With NEET numbers increasing, young people need to ensure they are equipped with the skills and workplace experience needed to secure jobs.

"Apprenticeships represent an alternative career route to remaining within full-time education and it is vital that these vocational pathways are promoted to young people through impartial careers advice.

"To support young people wanting to undertake an apprenticeship, NECC has launched
www.necctraining.co.uk  to provide information and case studies about the courses available."
