NECC Issues Trademark Renewal Warning

If you are due to renew your trademark be careful who you renew your trademark through, warns NECC.

Intellectual Property Office If you are due to renew your trademark be careful who you renew your trademark through, warns NECC.

The trademark journal is publicly available and therefore much of your renewal information is available for third parties to access.

Trademark Renewal Service Ltd, for example, are currently using this information to populate and send out renewal order forms to businesses due to renew their trademark.

This service costs considerably more than renewing your trademark directly with the Intellectual Property Office.

NECC itself has received copies of these renewal reminders and is concerned that our members are forewarned so they do not feel misled.

If you receive any communications from the Trademark Renewal Service Ltd or any other trademark agency and feel that the information has been misleading, the Intellectual Property Office would like to be advised.

To advise the Intellectual Property Office email a copy of the letter to information@ipo.gov.uk

Trading Standards have advised that you can also complete a form on the Citizen's Advice Service website by clicking here.
