Stockton entrepreneur Tony Campbell, MD of Creative Glass, has a booming order book with unprecedented demand for protective glass from regional and national businesses due to Covid-19.
Creative Glass designs, manufactures and installs bespoke glass and has a track record of high-profile projects including Durham Cathedral, international fashion designers, major shopping centres and stately homes. The current spike in demand builds on that reputation which stretches back nearly 30 years.
Tony Campbell had extensive building industry experience before setting up his business as he spotted a gap in the market for glass which was well-designed and decorative, as well as functional.
He said: “A few weeks after launching we received orders to produce ornamental glass for Harry Ramsden’s at the Metro Centre and, Newcastle United, and then won projects for 220 Firkin Brewery’s pubs.We didn’t look back for a few years.Fast forward to today and we are still busy with great projects such as the Globe Theatre restoration in Stockton as well as medical centres, pubs and pharmacies.
Creative Glass is a member of North East England Chamber of Commerce and Tony Campbell believes its role and quarterly economic survey is more important than ever. He said: “We are finding some major companies are wary of investing at present so projects are still on pause. The High Street situation is also a concern as we provide glass for a number of retailers’ premises.I urge everyone to fill in the Chamber survey to ensure it knows exactly what North East businesses need.By outlining how we are all performing and identifying challenges, we can ensure the Chamber is focused on our precise priorities.”
