Two Sunderland businessmen have launched a unique ginger beer inspired by their Asian heritage.
Abu Shama and Kamal Hussain the co-founders spent four years developing their Avenue and Greene drink brand, extensively market testing it to develop the distinctive flavour and bottles. It officially launched in September this year and is already stocked in over 50 hotels, restaurants and bars.
Abu Shama said: “The ginger we use is natural ginger extracts sourced from India giving it a much more softer taste then the traditional ginger beers. This is just the start of our journey. We have plans to develop more products once this initial ginger beer is established and by the end of the year, increase our clients to 300 outlets.”
The Avenue & Greene brand has just been promoted at the International Drinks Expo in London on 19th and 20th November 2019. While future plans include creating a mango and ginger drink, Indian lemonade and a sugar-free ginger beer.
James Ramsbotham, chief executive, North East England Chamber of Commerce said: “We are delighted to have this ambitious start-up enterprise in our membership. The potential for growth of this brand is clear to see with its original, modern flavours yet building on a heritage drink tradition. We wish them very success.”
